"Despicable Me" - Adoption

I recently saw the movie "Despicable Me" for the first time. I liked the movie, the adoption story line had a twist but most adoption plans do. People adopt for many reasons, and the decision for a family to finally adopt should not be selfish but they should do it for the child(ren) and for God.

In the movie Gru did start out with selfish motives. It is amazing how children soften adult’s intentions. Both the adoptive mother and adoptive father need to be on the same page when they choose to adopt. Even if everyone in their lives does not agree with their adoption plan the adoptive family needs to have a united firm foundation.

Gru adopted Margo, Edith, & Agnes for a selfish reason. He did not love them and did not want to, but those children changed his heart. He finally allowed them into his heart. He found that they loved him no matter what he did or how he was, and he loved them in spite of his past.

Adoptive families are not perfect but they love, cherish, spoil, provide for, take care of, nurture children from all backgrounds, and so much more despite the families imperfections.
